Neuromodulators: Botox, Dysport, Xeomin
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are three of the leading neuromodulator injections that rank as the number one non-surgical facial wrinkle reduction treatment available today. While the primary wrinkle reducing agent in all these treatments is botulinum toxin type A, Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin have subtle differences.
To provide maximum choices to our patients, we offer all of these FDA-approved injections at our practice. If you are looking to get rid of unwanted facial signs of aging with a quick and effective in-office treatment, Botox, Dysport or Xeomin injections from our trained injection providers can be an excellent treatment option.
Botox
Manufactured by Allergan, Inc., Botox is by far the most sought-after anti-wrinkle injectable treatment today. The FDA has approved Botox for the cosmetic reduction of frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet around the eyes, and horizontal forehead lines, apart from several medical applications.
Dysport
This neuromodulator injection was introduced in the US nearly a decade after Botox. It eliminates fine lines and wrinkles on the face as effectively as Botox. One of the differences is that the dilution of Dysport is higher than Botox. Therefore, its smaller molecule composition allows it to spread to larger surface area.
Xeomin
Xeomin is considered a “naked” neurotoxin, which means it does not include the additional proteins which cling to the active molecule as they do in case of Botox. The final results with Xeomin may take a day or two longer to appear, but in all other respects, this injectable treatment is very similar to Botox and Dysport.
Treatment Areas with Botox, Dysport and Xeomin
Frown Lines: Clinically known as glabellar lines, these vertical creases between your brows can make you appear angry or tired. Botulinum toxin type A works the best in eliminating these frown lines to restore a rested and rejuvenated facial appearance.
Forehead lines: The horizontal creases on the forehead become more prominent as you age. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are a simple and safe way to diminish the effect of these unsightly “surprise lines” and smooth out your upper face.
Crow’s feet: The tiny lines emanating from the far corners of your eyes can make you look older than you are. Neuromodulator injectables can alleviate these fine lines to make your eyes appear more expressive and alert. Botox, Dysport or Xeomin can be used skillfully to correct drooping eyelids for some patients.
Chin, Nose, and Neck: Chin dimpling may occur because of overactive mentalis muscles. Bunny lines around the nose can develop over time when you repeatedly “wrinkle” your nose. Overworked neck muscles can also create horizontal lines around the neck. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are off-label treatments to soften or erase these aging lines.
Other Areas: There are a number of other areas where neurotoxins may be used to provide rejuvenating results including achieving a sharper jawline, reduced “neck rings”, tighter skin on the neck and under the chin, and a “Lip Flip” for more full attractive lips. These are only a few innovative uses for neurotoxins in which Dr. Cohen is a skilled artist.
How do Neuromodulators Work?
Dr. Cohen can complete your Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin injection treatment in a single in-office session lasting less than 20 minutes. The injections administered in precise volumes at targeted depths in your trouble spots will relax the underlying wrinkle-forming muscles to smooth out the wrinkles on the surface. Virtually no downtime is involved with these treatments and you can return home or go back to work right after the procedure.
